Shortly after dawn this morning the sun had dramatic sun rays also known as crepuscular rays since they tend to form at dawn and dusk. The Smoky Mountains are visible almost as shadows in the early morning light.

Cool morning weather caused this butterfly to pose briefly on the forest floor before flying off. I took a close macro shot to capture an amazing iridescence near its eye and antennae.
